President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday donated an ambulance to Bumanya Health Centre IV, which serves as Kaliro district hospital. Museveni said the ambulance was a matter of urgency and that by delivering it, he was fulfilling a promise he had made years back.
The President made the remarks while addressing a rally at the new Nawaikoke town council grounds during the Operation Wealth Creation tour of Busoga sub-region. Frederick Ngobi Gume, the Minister of State for Co-operatives and MP for Bulamogi North West County, was the master of ceremonies.
Gume thanked the President for the rural electrification program, scheduled for next month. He also said the Government had allocated sh2b for building classroom blocks at Bukamba Seed School, in addition to other community projects.
Gume said co-operatives in the constituency were also boosted with sh30m from the Government. The area LC1 chairperson Isaac Mulooki, thanked the President for appointing Gume minister. He said Gume had offered them a 28-seater coaster and pick-up truck for ease of movement as well as helped feed children in primary schools.
Mulooki asked the President for a motorcycle to help him carry out his duties. He was given sh4m to purchase one immediately. Margaret Mbeiza, the District Woman MP, said Kaliro has religiously voted NRM since time immemorial.
“This area gives about 99% votes to the ruling party each presidential election. So when the President comes here, he is at home,” Mbeiza said.
