Police in Arua city’s Ayivu West division are looking into an incident in which a lady killed her father over food.
The suspect, Rose Maliko alias Kiiza, 24, a resident of Gila village in Nyiovura Ward in the Ayivu West division, is currently being held at the Ayivu police station in Onduparaka. She is accused of killing her own father, Alias Ponzio, a 48-year-old resident of the same village.
“Its alleged that the deceased who is the biological father of Rose Maliko told her to go and fetch water from the well for home use, which she refused. In the evening when food was ready, the late told the suspect not to eat since she refused to fetch water for family use. This prompted the suspect Maliko to first move away in anger but she came back shortly to hit her father so hard with a hoe handle on the head. He fell down unconsciously and died immediately,” Josephine Angucia, the West Nile region police spokesperson said.
She mentioned that after police were informed of the incident, a team from the Ayivu West division sped over to the spot to gather pertinent testimony from witnesses.
They also found the remains and sent it to the mortuary at Arua Hospital for an autopsy.
By the time they arrived, according to Angucia, the suspect had vanished, but he was found and taken into custody on Wednesday.
According to evidence obtained from family members and neighbors, the suspect has a history of being lazy and disliking to do anything; as a result, she has made threats to kill any of her parents who orders her to do housework.
Additionally, it was claimed that the suspect was previously married, but the union fell apart owing to her disobedience. She went back to her father’s house with a 1-and-a-half-year-old child.
