Sam Engola, the senior presidential advisor on the Lango subregion, has stated that those who question Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s qualifications should be aware that many leaders have come to prominence at a young age.
Engola stated that he is pleased to have Muhoozi in the region for several reasons, including Muhoozi’s readiness to assume leadership, the need of maintaining the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and the necessity of safeguarding NRM followers.
On Monday afternoon, Engola spoke at a ceremony hosted in the Mayor’s Gardens in Lira city to commemorate the commissioning of the “MK Army” structures for the Lango sub-region.
Muhoozi is continuing in his father’s footsteps. He’s a proven leader because the army has already promoted him to general, as Engola put it.
He was concerned that individuals who have supported NRM in the past would be persecuted under a new administration.
If President Yoweri Museveni is elected NRM chairperson and Muhoozi is elected president, they would collaborate for Uganda’s stability, thus we must proceed methodically. Engola remarked, “We want security.”
To develop a movement from the ground up, Balaam Barugahara, speaking on behalf of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, told reporters that they are collaborating with the elders of the National Resistance Movement.
He stated they hired campaign managers and others to safeguard their votes, and they actively encouraged young people to run for office.
To ensure that General Muhoozi is nominated for president in 2026, Barugahara has announced the formation of a campaign task group. It’s only been three days since another launch, this one hosted at the Garden Inn Hotel in Lira city by a group calling itself Original Muhoozi Army.
“If you don’t see people fighting to be my ambassador in an area, then you know I’m fake,” Barugahara claimed.
He urged the Lango community to come together, with the younger generation in particular being urged to respect their elders.
