The investigation of the illegal behavior at one of Uganda’s oldest institutions has been requested by Janet Museveni, minister of education.
The situation happened as a result of a social media post that went viral that claimed to be from a parent whose son had been sodomized by a teacher at King’s College Budo.
This week, Parliament’s attention was drawn to another post that claimed the accused teacher had been relocated to a different school after it went viral.
An inquiry on the revelations was called by House Speaker Anita Among. The most recent development suggests that Ms. Museveni, the First Lady, has taken an interest in the situation given that King’s College Budo is a government-funded institution.
According to information provided to this website, a technical delegation from the Ministry of Education met with school administrators on Wednesday, who were led by Mr. John Kazibwe, the head teacher.
Administrators of King’s College Budo were summoned by Ms. Ketty Lamaro, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, in a letter dated January 17.
“I am in receipt of messages on social media platforms in regard to the improper conduct towards some of the students and a staff at King’s College Budo,” Ms Lamaro wrote, adding that Ms Museveni “has directed an inquiry into these allegations.”
