Kawempe South legislator Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira has chosen to rebrand and shrug off his reticent self as the 2021–26 term nears its midterm, to once again posture as a loud politician.
The MP, who is reportedly attending the opposition’s three-day retreat in Entebbe, has resorted to Twitter to explain what exactly went wrong with him after deciding to change his image from that of a political parrot who spoke about every issue affecting the average person.
Mbaziira supports Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago in his tweet, claiming that the NRM government has made it a habit of labeling and demonizing opposition figures as “moles” in an effort to reduce their support. Kazibwe uses himself as an example, claiming he has been malicious his entire life.
However, some of his erstwhile fans demand an explanation from him for some of the harsh laws he backed in parliament, and this does not sit well with them. He is accused of supporting the report on the revision of the Computer Misuse bill 2022, which was led by the Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko, and of supporting the streamlining of the Boda Boda sector by evicting some riders.
According to sources from the inside of the legislature, Kazibwe Bashir was compromised the moment he entered the building. Members in his own party have the same ideas.
According to records, Kazibwe Bashir was also criticized by NUP President at a news conference last year for allegedly going against the will of his voters.
“The reason why ssegirinya and his colleague are in jail is because they ate and did not deliver that’s why they won’t leave jail even though what happens don’t be surprised if they spend all their 5 years behind bars. Ask yourself where he got the money he was splashing around” Kazibwe said in a tweet
