The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) recently unveiled the outcomes of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Examinations (UACE), revealing a notable surge in the percentage of students eligible for university admission.
Over 110,000 candidates participated in the November 13-December 1, 2023, UACE examinations, administered across 2,102 centers nationwide.
This marks an increase of 12,663 candidates compared to the previous year.
According to Uneb executive secretary Dan Odongo, the analysis of candidates’ performance underscores a remarkable achievement, with 99.1% of candidates meeting the criteria for UACE certification, mirroring the statistics from 2022.
Notably, 80,643 candidates achieved the minimum requirement of 2 principal level passes for university admission, a significant rise from 67,815 candidates in the 2022 examinations.
Moreover, Uneb reports that 90.7% of candidates qualify for admission to other tertiary institutions, considering one principal and two subsidiary pass levels, showcasing a notable improvement from the previous year’s 89.3%.
This positive trend in academic performance signifies a promising future for Ugandan students.
