The Judiciary has confirmed that the Chief Justice of Uganda, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, is currently receiving medical treatment outside the country.
Addressing concerns about his health, the Judiciary spokesperson, Mr. Jamson Karemani, clarified that while the Chief Justice is undergoing medical attention, he is not critically ill.
The statement from the Judiciary aims to dispel the exaggerated reports surrounding his health and assures the public of his imminent return to continue serving the people of Uganda.
The Chief Justice’s absence from recent national events, including the State-of-the-Nation address, Heroes Day celebrations, budget reading, and a special sitting to honor a former Supreme Court judge, had raised concerns and sparked speculations about his health condition.
However, the Judiciary urges the public to remain calm and disregard misleading publications regarding the Chief Justice’s health.
Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo assumed the position of Chief Justice of Uganda on August 20, 2020.
The Judiciary has assured the public that his absence is temporary and he will soon resume his duties in Uganda.
