Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested 65 drivers during an intensive Easter holiday enforcement operation targeting drunk driving and traffic violations.
The crackdown, coordinated with traffic officers, focused on main highways and busy intersections across the city. Breathalyzer tests were administered to hundreds of motorists, resulting in significant arrests and vehicle impoundments.
Police say the operation aims to reduce festive season road accidents, which typically spike during holiday periods. Arrested drivers face charges under Uganda’s traffic and penal laws.
