Mityana Municipality MP Zaake narrates that on Sunday, H.E Bobi Wine phoned him and Hon Asuman Basalirwa, requested that they do give him company to the Police CIID headquarters-Kibuli on Monday 29/04/2019.
They had agreed to report at 11:00am but before they reached their destination, they were intercepted and arrested by Police at Kalerwe while en route to Kibuli CIID headquarters.
They were whisked away to Nagalama Police station in the famous but unpopular Police van.
While at the Police, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi was charged with unlwaful assembly that is alleged to have been committed while demonstrating against OTT last year.
Bobi Wine was produced before the chief magistrate at Buganda road Court, he was denied bail and remanded to Luzira Prison until Thursday where he will be produced before the same Court at 10:00am.
During his speech Bobi wine gave an emotional speech which left everyone in the court room affirming that indeed he is of great potential. The speech went like this.
“Your honour thank you for this opportunity. I’m confident because indeed it’s not me on trial; it’s the court itself on trial. I have not committed any crime. I’m only here because I disagree with the political leadership of this country and in particular President Museveni.
But my spirit is confident because I’m here not because I’ve stolen public funds or killed somebody. I’m glad that I’m here because I’m fighting for them, you (magistrate) and everybody in this country.
I’m here for protesting against unfair taxation and against injustice. So if I’m to go through this oppression and pain for the betterment of my country so be it. At least I know that history will absolve me. Thanks
They also charged MP Zaake with unlawful assembly while at Busabala which allegedly happened a few days ago but granted police bond until 10/05/2019.
“Same People, arrested on the same day, in the same place while traveling in the same vehicle, charged with the same offence allegedly committed at different times, one given Police bond while another produced before court and denied bail.” Zaake narrated on his Facebook page
“That is how unprofessional Uganda Police Force can be! We shall hold on until this government falls.” He added
