A Uganda Peoples’ Defence Force brigadier general is under investigation over allegations that he assaulted two police officers at Bulukyeke Police Station in Bududa District.

The officer, whose identity has been withheld for legal reasons, is being investigated under crime case CRB 111/2026 of Bulukyeke Police Station.

The case includes allegations of assaulting police officers on duty, threatening violence and theft.

The incident allegedly happened at the police station at 7:40pm on June 23.

Police Source Describes Station Incident

A police source said the brigadier general arrived at the station with his bodyguards before summoning Detective Constable David Olar.

According to the source, the general wanted to question the officer over claims that police had delayed to handle a criminal case involving his relatives.

“Brig Gen…called detective corporal David Olar to come out through his bodyguard while he stood outside with a long stick. When the officer reached him while paying complements, the general grabbed him by his collar, threw him down then cocked his pistol furiously, asking why his relatives are not handled well whenever they report their cases,” the source said.

The source said the alleged confrontation followed complaints linked to an accident involving one of the general’s relatives a few weeks earlier.

Police officers had allegedly made the relatives return to the station several times without concluding investigations.

Police, UPDF Conduct Joint Probe

Elgon Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Rogers Taitika said investigations into the matter are ongoing.

SSP Taitika said police and the UPDF are jointly handling the probe.

During the alleged assault, a crime intelligence officer, Ms Rebecca Nakami, reportedly used her mobile phone to record the incident.

A police source said soldiers noticed her recording and seized the phone.

“That crime intelligence officer Nakami got concerned and captured the incident on video. He grabbed her phone, slapped her severely and ordered her to delete whatever she recorded. He also confiscated her phone and never gave it back to her,” the source said.

The incident was reportedly witnessed by civilians who had gone to the station to follow up their own cases.

The allegations remain under investigation.
