A woman based in the United Kingdom has sent a legal notice to the heads of Busoga clans, seeking to prevent the upcoming wedding of Kyabazinga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV.

The Kyabazinga, who named Jovia Mutesi as his queen in September, is scheduled to have a royal wedding on November 18, 2023, at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe in Jinja City.

Allegations of a Prior Marriage

In a letter dated October 16, 2023, Alison Nadiope, through her lawyers, has claimed that she married the Kyabazinga in a civil court in the United Kingdom back in December 2016.

She asserts that they have two children from their union and is ready to provide documentation as evidence of their marriage.

Financial Support and Ongoing Concerns

Mrs. Nadiope’s letter also states that she financially supported the Kyabazinga throughout their marriage, including paying his school fees, with a recent payment of £1,755.00.

She continued to support him until she became aware of his upcoming marriage. Mrs. Nadiope has been responsible for the upkeep of their home and children.

Warning of Legal Consequences

The UK-based lady has warned the Kyabazinga against entering into another civil marriage, as it would potentially constitute an act of bigamy, punishable by up to 6 months imprisonment under UK law.

This legal development emerges at a time when a 25-man committee was recently appointed to lead fundraising efforts for the upcoming royal wedding.
