Honoranta Nakato, a 49-year-old teacher from Kyanika Village, Kabira Sub County, Kyotera District, had an extraordinary journey over the last five years, culminating in the birth of quintuplets.

However, her life was tragically cut short when she succumbed to kidney failure at Mulago National Referral Hospital, leaving behind her children, relatives, and friends in shock.

This article pays tribute to Nakato’s remarkable life and the challenges she faced.

A Remarkable Journey Begins

Honoranta Nakato, a mathematics teacher at St Mary’s Ssanje SS in Kyotera District, experienced the extraordinary joy of giving birth to quintuplets in 2018.

This blessing followed her courageous battle with breast cancer, which led to the removal of one of her breasts.

Her five children, three girls and two boys, brought immeasurable happiness into her life.

A Battle Against Health Challenges

Despite the joy of motherhood, Nakato’s body began to weaken after giving birth to the quintuplets. She faced multiple health challenges, including high blood pressure and kidney failure.

Her illnesses prevented her from resuming her daily teaching duties and caring for her children.

Caring for the Quintuplets

Honoranta’s twin sister, Ms. Babirye, who had her own three-month-old baby, selflessly offered to breastfeed Nakato’s quintuplets.

They relied on both breast milk and cow milk for nourishment.

The quintuplets are now five years old and attend 3H Model Nursery School in Kyotera Town Council.

A Teacher and Role Model

Before her teaching position at St. Mary’s SS Ssanje, Nakato had a rich career in education, having taught at Kakoma SS in Rakai District, Sacred Heart Kiteredde SS in Kyotera, and Ndeeba SS in Kayunga District.

Her dedication to her students and her community made her a role model for many.

The Consequences of Kidney Failure

Kidney failure, often linked to conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes, eventually claimed Nakato’s life.

Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her loved ones and the community.

John Ssansa, a district councilor representing Kabira Sub County in Kyotera, mourned her loss and hailed Nakato’s generosity and resilience in raising her five children.

Nakato’s life and the challenges she faced serve as a poignant reminder of the fragility of human existence.

As we remember Honoranta Nakato’s life, her unwavering strength, and the love she had for her children, we offer our condolences to her family and community. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
