President Museveni Commemorates 38th NRM Victory Anniversary

Amidst economic challenges, Museveni expresses optimism about Uganda's growth prospects, calling for unity and concerted efforts towards development and prosperity.

In his televised address preceding the 38th National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M) victory anniversary, President Yoweri Museveni reflected on Uganda’s progress since the NRM’s ascent to power in 1986.

Amidst celebrations, he paid tribute to the late Honourable Cecilia Ogwal, acknowledging her bipartisan dedication to national development.

President Museveni praised Uganda’s successful hosting of the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit and the Third South Summit of the G77 and China, highlighting the nation’s pivotal role in chairing both events.

He commended the collaborative efforts of government officials, security forces, and citizens in ensuring the success of these prestigious gatherings.

Reflecting on Uganda’s journey since the historic victory of 1986, President Museveni emphasized the country’s resilience in overcoming challenges, including the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

He outlined various measures taken by the government to mitigate the pandemic’s impact, from healthcare provisions to economic support for businesses.

Addressing security concerns, President Museveni reassured the nation of Uganda’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and visitors.

He cited ongoing efforts to enhance security infrastructure and combat terrorist threats, underscoring the importance of peace and stability for economic prosperity.

On the economic front, President Museveni highlighted Uganda’s growth trajectory despite global challenges such as climate change and geopolitical tensions.

He outlined key sectors driving economic expansion, including agriculture, industry, and services, while emphasizing the government’s support for private sector growth and infrastructure development.

Looking ahead, President Museveni expressed optimism about Uganda’s economic prospects, projecting continued growth and diversification.

He outlined strategies to boost exports, attract foreign investment, and capitalize on Uganda’s tourism potential, aiming to position the country as a regional economic powerhouse.

In closing, President Museveni reiterated Uganda’s commitment to peace, prosperity, and regional integration.

He urged unity and collective effort towards realizing the nation’s full potential, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing development initiatives and combating corruption.
