Police have arrested three suspects and recovered 10 rounds of live ammunition and a toy pistol during an operation in Kampala.
The suspects, two men and one woman, were arrested from a hideout in Salaama, Makindye Division, on Thursday morning.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachel Kawala said officers carried out the intelligence-led operation after receiving information about suspected attackers.
“At about 2:00 a.m., police officers on patrol received information about two men who were allegedly involved in attacking people with pangas and were reportedly sleeping in a house located in Zikusooka Zone, Salaama, Makindye Division, Kampala District,” SP Kawala said.

SP Kawala said officers responded immediately and searched the suspected premises.
The operation led to the arrest of the three suspects.
“During a search of the house, officers recovered a backpack containing a toy gun, a metallic torch, a screwdriver, a sensor, a knife, and several test tubes. Police also recovered 10 rounds of live ammunition, “she disclosed.
Police are holding the suspects at Katwe Police Station as investigations continue.
Detectives are trying to establish the source of the recovered items. They are also investigating possible links between the suspects and recent criminal attacks.
Arrests come amid violent crime concerns
The arrests come as authorities deal with several reports of armed violence, deaths, injuries and aggravated robberies across the country.
In Agago District, police reported an incident on Tuesday night involving Moris Ocana, a businessman in Kalongo Town Council. The draft account says Ocana fled with his bag of money.
In Kitgum District, Francis Omona, 32, reported a robbery at Omiya Police Station.
Omona, a businessman and resident of Omiya Anyima Central, Panyum Parish, Omiya Sub-County, told police that unknown men armed with a gun and a panga robbed him of Shs8 million on Tuesday night.
Aswa East Police spokesperson Joe Oloya said police arrested two suspects in connection with the matter.
He said investigations are ongoing.
Recent gun violence, especially in Gulu City and Gulu District, has also raised public concern.
