A shooting incident at the residence of city businessman Henry Katanga in Mbuya Hill, a suburb of Kampala’s Nakawa Division, is currently under investigation by the local police.

The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Thursday morning, resulting in the tragic death of Katanga.

According to a security source, the initial report indicated that Katanga, 61 years old, had a dispute with his wife, Molly Katanga, within their home.

Their daughter reported hearing a gunshot from the bedroom. Upon rushing to the bedroom, she found her father with a head injury and her mother unconscious on the floor.

Molly Katanga was promptly taken to IHK (International Hospital Kampala) for treatment by family members before the police arrived.

A CZ99 COMPACT pistol with the serial number UG 16222 00061 was recovered at the scene.

Some family members who were present during the incident have been detained, and investigations are ongoing.

Notably, high-ranking security officials, including Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi and Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander SCP Stephen Tanui, responded to a distress call made to the OC station Bugolobi, ASP Peter Ogwang.

The body of Henry Katanga has been transported to the Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

The deceased couple were known for their significant involvement in supplying logistic equipment to the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs and the Ugandan People’s Defense Force (UPDF).

When contacted for information on the incident, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango stated that he was yet to receive detailed information.
