In a tragic incident unfolding in Namutumba District, eastern Uganda, a police manhunt is in progress for Alifari Obaga, accused of fatally assaulting his 28-year-old wife, Margret Nayobe.

The dispute erupted over Shs2,000 allegedly borrowed from a suspected lover.

The disturbing event occurred at their Nakawano Village residence in Kizuba Sub-county on Sunday night, revealing a deeply unsettling pattern of domestic violence.

Esuka Logose, a neighbor, disclosed that a confrontation ensued when Obaga questioned Nayobe about the small loan, leading to a heated argument earlier that day.

Despite attempts to reconcile, the situation escalated, with Obaga returning later in the night, fueled by suspicions of his wife’s alleged affair.

The outcome was the tragic death of Nayobe, a hardworking mother of two.

Patrick Mulumba, the area defense secretary, revealed a chilling backdrop, suggesting that Obaga had harbored intentions of harming his wife for the past two years over perceived infidelity.

Isa Gulere, the youth councilor, noted Obaga’s lack of a legitimate job and dependence on the deceased.

Jane Namukuve, Namutumba Police Community Liaison Officer, condemned the act as domestic violence, emphasizing the need for accountability.

The investigation is focused on locating Obaga to bring murder charges against him.
