A recently surfaced video capturing former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi exiting a luxury hotel in London on crutches has sparked discussions about his current health condition.
The footage shows Mr. Mbabazi, who was once dubbed the “super minister,” leaving DUKES LONDON, a prestigious five-star hotel located near Buckingham Palace.
The video does not provide a specific date for the recording, but it has raised questions about the state of his well-being.
During the video, Mr. Mbabazi can be seen without his usual spectacles as he navigates his way out of the hotel with the assistance of three butlers. One of the butlers, noticing someone filming, asks if they want to take a picture or video.
The person responds, expressing concern for Mr. Mbabazi’s safety. Despite the worry, Mr. Mbabazi requests the butler to stay close and denies the need for help. Playfully, he remarks that he is also a “big man,” eliciting a response from one of the butlers.
Throughout the 109-second clip, Mr. Mbabazi appears to be in pain. However, once he reaches the ground, he expresses relief and humorously asks about the location of the sun. At the suggestion of a butler, he is directed to a nearby bench to rest.
Addressing the concerns, Mr. Mbabazi took to Twitter to clarify that he had a back ailment that has been treated. He expressed gratitude for the well-wishes and messages of support, refuting claims that he suffered a stroke.
“To all those that have sent me get well soon messages, I thank you for your encouragement, sympathy and love. It is not true that I got a stroke. I had a back ailment which was fixed & I have actually in the last week or so been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work. Thanks,” the former security minister said
He also mentioned his recent involvement in significant diplomatic work over the past week.
This incident follows Mr. Mbabazi’s public message wishing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni a swift recovery from Covid-19. President Museveni had announced that he would be taking “forced leave” after testing positive for the virus.
“I send my best wishes to my elder brother and comrade in the struggle and President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for a full and speedy recovery from Covid-19. My thoughts are with you, your family and the people of Uganda right now. Get well soon.” Mbabazi tweeted
