“You’re Bluntly Lying the public” Ziggy wine family clash with Police on the Cause of Death

Initial reports from the family indicated that Ziggy had been kidnapped and tortured leading to death because of his links to Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine but on Tuesday, police said the singer succumbed to injuries sustained after a nasty accident along the Northern bypass.

However, in a statement released on Saturday, the singer’s family and a group of human rights activists said the report quoted by police was false.

“Ziggy was taken for a second scan and the doctor confirmed that he was assaulted according to the wound patterns and confirmed this was not a bike accident as the first result showed,” the family said.

They argued that there was foul play in the singer’s death, noting that police is trying to hide something.

Quoting the postmortem report from Mulago, police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said after the nasty accident, the singer hit his head on a trench adding that the post-mortem report indicated that the late had died of a blunt force trauma.

However, the family said the results of the postmortem were the correct ones but noted they differed with police on the cause of the injuries on Ziggy’s head.

“The postmortem report from Mulago hospital indicated that the late died of a blunt force trauma and this only happens when a person is hit on the head by a hard object, breaking the skull letting the blood spill into the brain,” they said.

“The report said by the police spokesperson is totally not true but rather meant to divert Ugandans from the reality of how Ziggy was kidnapped.”

The family, however, were at par with the police report that indicated that the singer was admitted at Mulago and later taken to Nsambya, from where he returned to Mulago where he died from.

Police on Tuesday insisted the singer had died of injuries caused by a nasty accident and to prove this, they paraded seven eyewitnesses including the a school teacher who was reportedly knocked by the late, enrolled nurse who gave first aid to the deceased and Boda Boda riders who first attended to Ziggy shortly after the alleged accident.

The police spokesperson, however, warned that it is wrong for some elements to politicize the matter.

“Relatives very well knew the circumstances but concealed the information from the public and police. They transferred him from Mulago to Nsambya but they let political opportunists leverage on the same,” Enanga said.

“This is not the way to work. There are other holistic ways to get votes from the public.”
