Role summary

UNAIDS Uganda is seeking a creative and motivated online volunteer to support its communications work through content creation and graphic design.

The selected volunteer will help develop social media content, prepare visuals and support newsletter design.

The role requires strong writing skills, basic graphic design ability and familiarity with online communication platforms.

Key responsibilities

The volunteer will develop a social media content calendar aligned with national and international events.

They will also create digital content for UNAIDS platforms, including social media captions, infographics, graphics, photos and short videos.

The role also involves ensuring that all materials comply with UNAIDS branding and corporate design guidelines.

The volunteer will review communication guidance materials to maintain consistent messaging across platforms.

They will support the design and layout of the quarterly newsletter using Canva templates.

At the end of the assignment, the volunteer will prepare a final report summarising activities, outputs and achievements.

Required qualifications and skills

Applicants should have experience creating content for X, formerly Twitter, and LinkedIn.

They should have strong written communication skills and basic graphic design skills.

Experience using Canva is preferred.

Applicants should also be able to work collaboratively in virtual environments and be willing to receive guidance and feedback.

Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Added advantage

Applicants with experience in communications related to human rights, public health or advocacy campaigns will have an added advantage.

Knowledge of the HIV and AIDS landscape in Uganda and Tanzania is also an advantage.
