Senior Police officer remanded to Prison for stagging Roberries on Entebbe Highway

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bright Amutuhaire has been remanded to prison on charges of attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Entebbe Chief Magistrate, Ms. Mary Babirye on Wednesday remanded ASP Amutuhaire and his accomplice Richard Musinguzi, a businessman to Kigo prison until August 5 when they will be returned to court.

Prosecution told court that on July 7, 2019 while at Abaita Ababiri in Katabi town council in Wakiso District, ASP Amutuhaire, a resident of Bulindo zone Namugongo in Kira Division together with Musinguzi, 36 and resident of Wakaliga zone ‘B’ Nateete Lubaga Division by use of violence conspired and attempted to rob Shs 45 million from Mr Tom Kisubika, a businessman at Kasenyi Landing site.

Atumuhaire and Musinguzi pleaded not guilty before asking to be released on bail.

However, the state prosecutor Ms. Keko Joan told the court that investigations into their case were still ongoing. She asked the magistrate to remand the suspects until August 5, 2019.

Mr. Kisubika told journalists at court that,” I wasn’t aware that the suspects were to appear in court today until when a friend alerted me. I had to rush to court. But since the suspects are out of police hands, I’m sure I will get justice.”

ASP Amutuhaire attached to Kajjansi police station and Musiguzi were arrested on July 7 after they had intercepted Kisubika at Abaita Ababiri in Katabi town council in Wakiso District to rob him.

Kisubika was driving a car Reg. No.UBD 328J along Kasenyi road when the incident occurred.
