Last Friday, a Steema Industries investor from Namanve in the Wakiso District was brought before the Mukono Chief Magistrates Court and accused of raping a female job seeker.

Singh Sher Shekhawat, an Indian citizen who lives in Naalya, Kira Municipality in the Wakiso District, was charged with raping a lady (name withheld) on February 13 after she allegedly went to the factory looking for work.

He is accused of committing rape in violation of Sections 123 and 124 of the Criminal Code Act of 1950.

“Sher Singh Shekhawat on February 13, 2023, at Steema industries- Namanve- Goma Sub County in Mukono District, had unlawful carnal knowledge with a woman… without her consent,” read in part the charge sheet presented before Grade One Magistrate Maureen Mukoya.

Singh was remanded to Kauga Prison without being given the opportunity to enter a plea because rape is a capital offense.

If found guilty, the investor could receive the maximum penalty of execution by hanging.
