Results for last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) will be released on Thursday morning in Kampala by the First Lady and education minister Mrs Janet Kataaha Museveni, the education ministry’s publicist Patrick Muinda , has said.
A total of 671,923 candidates registered to sit PLE at 13,072 centers across the country compared to 646,041 from 12, 751 centers in 2017. This is an increase of 25,882 (3.9) candidates. At least 71% (476,131) of the candidates who sat for the examinations, are from government-aided schools schools, while 29% (195,792) are from private ones.
If you are a parent with a Primary Seven candidate who sat for PLE this year, your child will be expected to report to school on February 18, according to the new calendar released by the education ministry. The calendar shows that on January 24 and 25, heads of government schools will gather in Kampala for Senior One selections.
If there is any change to the date communicated earlier, this will be announced by Mrs Museveni on Thursday. Students who will be joining technical or farm schools and community polytechnics will also start classes on February 18. Meanwhile, the release of Senior Four examination results will follow in a week’s time or two.
The selection for Senior Five students will be done on February 14 and 15 and classes will begin in the following weeks. All the other continuing students for primary and secondary are expected to start school on February 4, and the term will close on May 3, 2019.
