President Museveni vows to crush FDC & People power as Bedbugs in Hoima By-Elections

President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the NRM national chairperson, yesterday began a two-day campaign by declaring his moves of clashing Bobi wine and FDC opposition coalition.

President Museveni was canvassing votes for the NRM flag-bearer for Hoima district Woman Member of Parliament By-elections, Harriet Businge Mugenyi Akiiki.

The President called on the electorate to vote for the NRM candidate to reciprocate government’s socio-economic achievements in the area and also urged them to show the nation that NRM is unbeatable in western Uganda.

“Roads have been constructed to connect Bunyoro sub-region to other parts of the country. Electricity has been extended to 10 sub-counties of Hoima district except for Kyabigambire county, which will soon be connected. Education and health have been fully supported,” he said.

Museveni added that the Government is building Kabaale International Airport with a 5km run-way in Bunyoro and said it is an equivalent of Entebbe airport.

“The Government has recorded its achievements because it focused first on national economic recovery and then the restoration of peace and stability and general infrastructure,” he said. Businge is tussling it out with Asinansi Nyakato for the Hoima district Woman MP seat.

Asinansi is the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag-bearer. The Hoima district Woman MP seat fell vacant after its former Woman MP, Tophace Kaahwa Byagira, decided to represent the newly- created district of Kikuube.

Addressing a rally at Kabaale Public Primary School in Kabaale sub-county, Bugahya county yesterday afternoon, the President reaffirmed to the people of the area that other developments such as the discovery of oil deposits in Bunyoro sub-region, is attributed to the peaceful environment and NRM’s zeal for national development.

He said there is a refugee influx from the neighbouring countries because of a peaceful political atmosphere that was ushered in by the NRM government. The President urged the people of Uganda to guard peace jealously.

He assured the tobacco farmers in the Bunyoro sub-region that the Government will compensate them following the loss they incurred after selling their tobacco worth sh36b to a Kenyan company called Continental that collapsed.

Museveni thanked the people of Bunyoro for voting NRM in every election in the past. He advised them to vote Businge as Woman MP come Thursday, September 26. He further commended NRM women contenders who had been in the race with Businge for stepping down in her favour to foster and consolidate NRM’s support.

As he travelled in the area, he also made a stopover at Buseruka trading centre and thanked residents for being economically focused. The NRM vice-chairperson for the western region, Matayo Kyaligonza, commended President Museveni for ably steering the country’s politics.

Later, President Museveni addressed another rally at Kigorobya Muslim Primary School in Kigorobya county.
