Two people have been killed and six are nursing injuries after a gas cylinder exploded at a home in Mikka trading center, Wakiso district.
The deceased have been identified as Taddeo Jagenda, 51, and Suleiman Kinobe, 73.
Jagenda and Kinobe have been known to work on gas cylinders, and the one that exploded had just been purchased by the former for the business.
“Six people were injured by fragments from the explosion including a six-month-old baby,” Deputy Police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Luke Owoyesigyire said.
The injured have been identified as Serve Joshua, 9, Catherine Nagoya, 7, Timothy Kisuze, 9, and three others only identified as 6-month-old Maya, Titus, 6, and Nalukenge, 40.
They were rushed to Namayumba Health Centre III in Wakiso district for treatment.
Owoyesigyire said Police’s bomb squad recovered the exploded cylinder and it has been taken for analysis pending ongoing investigations.
