A major fire broke out at City House, a prominent business and shopping complex in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, at around 8:30 am on December 11.
The blaze has raised concerns about potential damage to business merchandise, including the Democratic Party (DP) office located within the complex.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deployed seven fire trucks and officers to contain the fire, while the cause of the outbreak remains unknown at this time.
Kampala Central Division Mayor Salim Uhuru expressed regret over the incident and urged property owners to equip their premises with firefighting equipment.
He emphasized the importance of fire extinguishers as a first line of defense against such emergencies.
The affected building housed various businesses, including restaurants, stationery shops, and offices across multiple floors.
As efforts continue to extinguish the fire, the extent of the damage is being assessed.
