Archbishop Ssemogerere Warns Uganda Officials to Abandon Corruption

Archbishop Ssemogerere has issued a stark warning to government officials, calling on them to abandon corrupt practices or face serious consequences. The religious leader used forceful language to condemn corruption, emphasising the moral and spiritual dangers of dishonest conduct in public service.

The archbishop’s message addressed Uganda’s ongoing struggle with graft and administrative abuse. He called for immediate moral renewal among officials, urging them to choose ethical leadership and transparency. The strong rhetoric reflects growing frustration from religious institutions over corruption’s persistence in government.

Faith leaders like the archbishop have increasingly become vocal critics of corruption, leveraging their moral authority to push for change. Such interventions from the church highlight concerns that institutional checks alone have not sufficiently addressed graft. The appeal targets both individual conscience and systemic reform in Uganda’s government structures.
