Museveni warns: “No sleep for lazy leaders”

One after another, newly appointed ministers and deputies swore allegiance to Uganda.  They pledged to defend the Constitution and serve the country.

Vice President nominee Jessica Alupo was among the first to take the oath. She pledged loyalty to the nation and protection of state secrets.

A total of 78 cabinet members took oath. Five were absent from the final swearing-in process, including the First Lady Janet Museveni.

Four nominees reportedly failed the citizenship test. Their cases were referred to President Museveni for further guidance.

Museveni congratulated the ministers but skipped a long speech. “There will be no speeches for now. I simply congratulate you all and wish you good luck,” he said.
