Uganda’s problems are bigger than me and Bebe Cool- Bobi Wine

Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool shake hands during the 10 years of Eddy Kenzo concert on Friday

Speaking about the ‘unification’ of both musicians during the Kenzo at 10 years concert on Friday,Bobi Wine said the country’s problems are bigger than anyone can imagine, noting that it is wrong to be reduced to the fight between them.

“The problems we face in Uganda are bigger than us. The issues which Uganda faces cannot and should not be reduced to a Bobi Wine – Bebe Cool affair! At the same time, those issues affect all of us,”Bobi Wine posted on his social media pages on Saturday evening.

He emphasized that there is no bad blood between him and Bebe Cool as many people have been putting it, saying that he cannot have a grudge with a fellow artiste and Ugandan he known for a long time.

“If one of us got an accident on the road and we can’t find a hospital to give us emergency care, it won’t matter if it is me or Bebe! We should therefore not lose sight of who our real enemy is or what the real problem is. We should not allow ourselves to be detracted.”

There has been bad blood between the two singing giants especially stemming from their political differences.

Whereas Bebe Cool supports and canvasses support for President Museveni, the reverse is true for Bobi Wine who through his people power movement disagrees with the president’s leadership that he says has outlived its usefulness.

Both singers have on several occasions collided over the same.

However, in his Saturday statement, the Kyadondo East legislator said there is need for unity in a bid to better themselves and Ugandans at large, other than engaging in cat fights.

“Of course our oppressors have for long survived by playing the divide and rule game. They want to turn us against each other whenever they have chance. We have a choice- we can play into their game, or simply outsmart them and redeem ourselves. We cannot and should not allow the regime to divide us.”

“As Martin Luther King said, “We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” The choice is clear.”

This comes on the backdrop of fellow musician Joseph Mayanja, also known as Jose Chameleon who welcomed the unity and urged both singers to release a song that would unite their fans.

“This is the perfect type of nation we all love to see, even for our fore children. I am feeling so happy to see that Music has again brought my two brothers under siege where unity was inevitable. We cannot use religion, race, ethnics or whatsoever to define ourselves if we want to build a prosperous nation. Mr. Ssali Moses, Mr. Kyagulanyi Kudos,”Jose Chameleon said on Friday.

The latest developments are seen by many as a sign of maturity among the country’s music giants and could usher in a new chapter especially between Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool who have not been on good terms with each other.
