The suspected thief arrested after turning up for Police recruitment

About 150 youths turned up for a Police recruitment exercise that took place on Monday, at Mpigi district headquarters.

This recruitment, which targeted probational Police constables with Uganda Certificate of Education, started with drills and running for about 2km.

According to Philip Mukasa, the Katonga region Police publicist, one person has turned away over presenting forged academic papers, while another was arrested over allegations that he connived with a Police officer to secure a Police bond so as to he could turn up for the recruitment.

Eric Otim had been arrested over charges of stealing a camera (Nikon D90) and mobile phone. The recruitment team was tipped off and they arrested and handed Otim over to the Police.

According to Mukasa, no person with a criminal background will be allowed to enter the force. Out of the 150 youth, only 30 were recruited with others being turned away after failing to meet the requirements. Out of the 30 recruits, only 10 were female.
