Alexander Bagonza, known as A Pass, has clarified that he will not be performing at an event in Mitooma district welcoming President Museveni.

A poster circulating on social media listed A Pass among the performers for an event organized by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and his father in Ruhinda North, Mitooma, which led to criticism, especially from supporters of Robert Kyagulanyi, Museveni’s rival.

The poster also features well-known artists such as Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone, and Eddy Kenzo.

However, A Pass addressed the situation in a video shared on his social media, stating he was unaware of the poster until it surfaced on X (formerly Twitter).

The ‘Gamululu’ singer explained that he had no agreement to perform at the event.

He mentioned that a friend had contacted him to perform at a thanksgiving event for the friend’s father’s 80th birthday, but he did not agree to perform at any political event.

“I saw the poster on Twitter (X). I was contacted by my lawyer about performing at a friend’s dad’s 80th birthday, who is a friend of Hon Tayebwa. Suddenly, a poster shows I’m performing at an event where Rt Hon (Deputy Speaker Tayebwa) is welcoming the President. I do not perform at political events,” A Pass clarified.

He emphasized that he had not been booked or paid to perform at the event and would not be among the performers.

“I was not booked, paid, or informed about such an event. So, don’t speculate without knowing the full story because I didn’t know either,” he added.

President Museveni is expected to attend the event at Rwakitandara playground this Sunday, celebrating Tayebwa’s father Daudi Bangirana’s 80th birthday.

The event will also be attended by dignitaries, including the Archbishop of Mbarara, Lambert Bainomugisha
