Pupils from Kampala Parents School with the support of their teachers have donated gifts to Children of Sanyu Babies Home.
The gifts, which included toys, sugar, pampers, toilet papers, clothes and several edibles, were delivered by pupils of P4 to P6.
Sanyu Babies Home has about 50 children between one month and four years. Most of the children who visited the home are under the Young Straight Talk Society club.
They were escorted by their teachers; Doreen Bamuturaki and Deogratious Olowo. They spent time playing with the children and also had a question and answer session with the home’s communications officer, Christine Bangi.
The school principal, Daphine Kato, said this was a pupils’ initiative to get items from their parents to donate to their fellow children.
“It was a great initiative. We decided to support them because we believe this is a good gesture from the pupils because it teaches them how to serve others, helping the needy and caring for others,” Kato said.
She also thanked the parents, who supported the children to donate to Sanyu Babies Home. Bamuturaki also said taking children to the home offers them an opportunity to learn about serving beyond themselves.
Bingi thanked Kampala Parents School’s pupils, for their generosity and care.
“This means so much to us, especially during the festive season,” she said.
She said every festive season, the home gets more children who are abandoned.
“Here we are like expecting mothers. We always have more babies coming in. We thank all those who always provide us with assistance,”Bingi said
