Pool Table : Nambufu ready for challenge

Zaimat Nabafu shocked many when she hoisted the Kampala Open last year. Ttoday she will start her title defence at the De Palace lounge in Kasanga.

“I will do my best to ensure that I win that title. I know that others are targeting this title so I have taken extra time to train,” Nabafu explained.

The defending champion will use the competition to show everyone her mettle. Last year she won her first title in the sport after playing pool for years now she wants to confirm it wasn’t a one off.

“Last year determination pushed me over the line. I came from behind in almost all my matches which made me confident during the competition, the same things happened in the final and I came from behind to win,” Nabafu said.

The men’s defending champion is Joseph Kasozi and the Skin Samona man will relish the challenge after his disappointment in the National Open. The Kampala Open will see many top players jump at the challenge because of the big prize money and ranking points at stake.

The winning man will receive sh1.5m, second sh750,000 and third place will take sh325,000.
