Nyege Nyege Festival Launches Amidst Assurances from Uganda's Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Kadaga. President Museveni guarantees security, deploying senior officers.

In a resolute declaration, Ms. Rebecca Kadaga, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East Africa Community Affairs, affirmed that the annual Nyege Nyege event in Uganda will persist as long as she is alive.

Serving as the chief guest at the 8th edition’s official opening at the Source of the Nile in Jinja City, Ms. Kadaga emphasized the festival’s prominence as the largest in East and Central Africa.

President Museveni, through Ms. Kadaga, reassured revelers of the event’s security despite some negative publicity.

He acknowledged the festivities and dispatched senior army and police officers to ensure the safety of participants and their belongings.

Expressing gratitude to the festival organizers for their resilience and commitment, Ms. Kadaga highlighted the economic impact of Nyege Nyege, foreseeing positive changes in the livelihoods of the people.

As preparations unfolded for the event’s commencement, security remained a top priority.

Tight security measures included personnel stationed at venues, police marine patrols along Lake Victoria and the Nile River, and a surveillance helicopter monitoring the surroundings.

Mr. David Kimiti Ķasirimo, a reveler from Kenya, praised the cultural exhibition, expressing his awe at Uganda’s peaceful atmosphere, diverse traditional foods, and the warm hospitality of its people.

Kenneth G from Denmark, attending for the third time, commended the festival’s role in showcasing Uganda’s cultural products and attracting tourists through continuous innovation.
