Charles Rwomushana, a political analyst in Uganda, has publicly asserted that there are no political parties in Uganda, instead, there are cults. Rwomushana, who always presents himself as an impartial authority, claimed that neither the NRM nor the NUP are political parties.
He made the observation that, whereas the NUP is currently overrun with and drowning in weddings, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s birthday is the main event for the NRM party. He continued by pointing out that the Ugandan Parliament was recently completely destroyed by Range Rover news. Something has caused problems for the junior minister for lands Persis Namuganza.
“We don’t have political parties in Uganda. We have cults. What is prominent in NUP now are weddings. In NRM, it’s MK’s birthday. In Parliament, the romance of the Range Rover which has even resulted in the censure of a minister.”
Rwomushana’s co-panelist Hon. Betty Nambooze, however, urged listeners to disregard what Rwomushana said. This is because it will cause confusion for them. According to Nambooze, it is obvious that Uganda is in a crisis. She questioned how a UPDF officer in active duty discussed politics and was rewarded for it. This was in reference to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the first son.
Muhoozi, who is still in the army, has kept up his public expression of his political opinions. To the dismay of Ugandans, his father Gen Museveni has never punished him but has always let him off the hook.
