Museveni: I was rigged in Kampala

I was rigged in Kampala, Museveni insists

According to President Museveni, during the 2021 presidential elections, his ballots in the Kampala Metropolitan Area were “changed.”

Museveni made the disclosures on Wednesday at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala while speaking with a group of Kampala NRM Village leaders.

Museveni asserted that the NRM was cheated out of power in response to the party’s dismal showing in Kampala during the most recent general elections.

“ I had heard about the rigging of elections in Kampala. I heard that even my votes were changed,” Museveni said.

He blamed the people he appointed in the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) for failure to perform their roles which could have exposed his votes to being changed.

“That came from the ONC which was supposed to appoint some agents per village and fight those wars, but I do not know what happened,” Museveni claimed.

Hadija Uwizeye, the recently appointed director of the ONC, was called into a meeting by President Museveni to provide further details.

Uwizeye said in her report that although the money to pay for the agents’ appointments and expenses had been released, it had been stolen by those in control.

Milly Babalanda, the present minister for the presidency who is uncannily involved in a Shs7b scandal at the government printers, served as the ONC’s leader at the time.
