Museveni appoints Maj Gen Nabasa as Commander UPDF’s 3rd infantry division

Maj. Gen. Nabasa will be in charge of all UPDF activities in the mineral-rich, tumultuous subregion of north-eastern Uganda.

In a mini reshuffle of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), President Museveni of Uganda has moved and assigned a total of six elite army officers to administrative and command positions.

In a statement released on Saturday, Brig. Felix Kulayigye, the spokesperson for UPDF, verified the adjustments made by Mr. Museveni, who is also the head of the army.

According to the new adjustments, the former commandant of Military police, Major General Don Williams Nabasa, has been appointed commander of the 3rd Infantry Division in Moroto.

Brig Gen James Kinalwa was named the Chief of Personnel and Administration, and Brig Gen Eugene Ssenkumba Ssebugwawo was designated head of the National Emergency Coordination Centre at the office of the Prime Minister (OPM).

Others include Brig Gen William Beinomugisha, the former commandant of the 5th Infantry Division, who is now the commandant of the Military Police, and Brig Keith Katungi  has been appointed commandant of the 5th Infantry Division.

Based to details obtained from UPDF sources, some of the replaced officers have been nominated for a strategic course at the National Defence College in Jinja.

Maj. Gen. Nabasa will be in charge of all UPDF activities in the mineral-rich, tumultuous subregion of north-eastern Uganda.
