The Police director of engineering and logistics, Godfrey Bangirana, has been scrapped off the Police payroll, Ugandanz News has learnt.
According to an impeccable source, Bangirana, who is at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP), was scrapped off the payroll after his contract was not renewed.
Bangirana, whose two-year contract expired on July 16, applied to have it renewed through the secretary of the Police Authority recently, but his application was not considered.
When contacted, the public service permanent secretary, Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, neither denied nor confirmed the scrapping of Bangirana off the payroll.
“Contact the Uganda Police Force because that is personal information, which I cannot give you. Just like we did not tell you when we put him on the payroll, I cannot tell you whether he is off or not,” she said.
Musingwiire added: “If he (Bangirana) has a new contract, then he is on the payroll, but if he does not have one, then he is not on Dennis obbo, lands ministry publicist The search costs sh10,000 and posters showing the rates for various land services should be pinned on the walls in the land offices. the payroll.”
When contacted over the matter, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said: “He (Bangirana) is still the director of engineering and logistics. There is no such communication from PAC (Police Advisory Committee).”
The development comes at a time when a Uganda Young Democrat, Isaac Maddo, went to court, seeking to secure orders to compel Bangirana to vacate office.
However, the hearing of the case last week flopped for the second time, after the court clerk revealed that the deputy head of the Civil Division of the High Court, Henrietta Wolayo, had gone for a workshop.
The case was adjourned to November 6. The judge was expected to hear an application in which Maddo wants the AIGP to temporarily vacate office, pending hearing and determination of the contract renewal case.
Maddo accuses Bangirana of refusing to vacate the office, yet his two-year contract expired, an act that he says is illegal.
He wants the court to issue a temporal order restraining the Police Authority from renewing Bangirana’s contract until the determination of the main case.
Bangirana and the Attorney General (AG) have never filed a defence concerning the matter, despite court summons. According to Maddo, they served Bangirana and the AG with the summons.
The court registrar, Sarah Langa, had directed Bangirana and the AG to file their defence within 15 days to no avail.
When contacted for a comment, Bangirana said: “Why don’t you get a comment from court?”
