Maj Gen RTD Kahinda Otafiire, the maverick minister of internal affairs, is well recognized for speaking up about issues that are close to his heart.
He has been recently exchange heavy words with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni.
The four-star general seemed to imply that the senior minister needed to learn some “lessons” in one of those conversations.
It has since come to light, though, that Gen. Otafiie left Gen. Muhoozi and the people supporting his presidential campaign a message for the new year.
In a 30-second video that is going viral on social media, Gen. Otafiire urges voters to support Museveni when it comes time to cast their ballots.
The bush war hero said, without naming any specific individuals: “Live long and do good. What I am requesting you, when the time comes ahead, bring back Museveni and not these standby generators that are even dead! Why do you need a generator when you have electricity, a dead generator moreover. Maybe, if it were working but a dead one?”
Unofficial rumors claim that the former commander of the UPDF Land Forces may run for president in the general elections of 2026. The initiative appears to be supported by the General’s supporters, despite the General having yet to formally comment on it.
