The Internal Security Organisation (ISO) has summoned owners of land in Kamwokya, where Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi has a building, to explain themselves on a number of issues surrounding it.

The ISO boss, Col. (rtd) Frank Kaka Bagyenda, said he summoned owners of Pearl Hope Investments Limited, owned by three family members; Jane Senfuka Nanfuka, Katrina Nanfuka and David Senfuka, to establish why they had come out at this time to evict the tenants, and not earlier.

Bagyenda said the eviction notice that the company gave to the 393 residents occupying the 26 acres of land in three zones of; Kisenyi I, Mulimira and Old Kira Road, posed a security concern, which prompted him to respond. Kyagulanyi (aka Bobi Wine), who owns the single-storeyed Semakokiro house on the land, is among the 393 residents facing eviction. With 13 plots carved out, the land is situated on Block 213 Kyadondo.

“I got information that people were threatening to burn the city and kill the land owners. They even claimed that this was a government plan to squeeze Kyagulanyi because he had declared to stand for president. That is rubbish. Government is not behind this land matter. Our interest is to ensure that there is no breach of peace and security,” Bagyenda explained.

While addressing Kamwokya residents on Tuesday, Kyagulanyi called for calm.

“Any land eviction is born out of court orders as a result of a due legal process, which has not happened. I, therefore, urge you to stay calm. During the crisis meeting called to forge a way forward in the face of an eviction, Kyagulanyi added: “The law protects you, as Kibanja owners, and it is the same law which protects people who live in Kololo. I want to assure you; what you won is not illegal.
