By being one of the primary sponsors of the 2023 Kabaka Run, which will be held this Sunday, April 16, at Bulange, Mengo, I&M Bank Uganda has reinforced its commitment to supporting philanthropic activities and giving back to the community.

Before His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the King of Buganda, celebrates his birthday, the Buganda Kingdom hosts the annual Kabaka Run to collect money for humanitarian purposes.

The topic for this year is “Men Against HIV/AIDS to Save The Girl Child,” which supports UNAIDS’ goal of eradicating AIDS by 2030.

I&M Bank’s involvement in the Kabaka Run, according to Acting Managing Director Sam Ntulume, is evidence of the bank’s dedication to civic engagement and community improvement.

“This partnership is a significant milestone in promoting health and wellness in Uganda, and we are honoured to be part of it. It is an opportunity to give back to the community through our Corporate Social Responsibility pillar; Enabling Giving,” he said.

The Kabaka Run is a fantastic opportunity for I&M Bank to promote health, wellness, and culture in Uganda while supporting a deserving cause, Mr. Ntulume continued.

The bank is proud to be associated with the race and the Buganda Kingdom and encourages men to get tested, treated, and ultimately protect women against HIV/AIDS infection.

Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of Buganda, greeted I&M Bank and assured them of a fruitful collaboration and a favorable market in the Kingdom.

“I welcome I&M Bank on board as a partner. This partnership is mutual in a way because just like any other businesses, I&M Bank needs to make profits. And we are the market that you need in order to sell your products and make profits. Buganda as a region represents 70% of the country’s GDP, so it’s very wise and smart for any serious organization to partner with the Buganda Kingdom. We shall take you to the market,” The Katikiro said.

The Katikiro also commended I&M Bank for picking a tagline that had deep significance and purpose for the areas in which it operates.

“I like the I&M Bank slogan; ‘We are on your side.’ It has very deep meaning, in Luganda it’s interpreted as ‘Tuli Namwe.’ It goes a long way in showing that the business cares for the people,” he added.

I&M Bank Uganda received 100 participation kits for its sponsorship, and it plans to join more than 100,000 other participants in the 2023 Kabaka Run.

The running kits, which cost Ushs 20,000 and come with a vest, a water bottle, and a cap, can be purchased at a few I & M Bank locations, including the William Street, Kabalagala, and Kawempe branches.
