Agaba a doctor attached to International Hospital went missing close to 9 days ago, after her mysterious disappearance the family decided to file a missing person report to the Police at Kabalagala. The Police and family went to her apartment on April 16 at night and among others, interviewed the guard Obongi, who reportedly claimed he saw her on Saturday April 13 leaving with two bags.
The police officers decided to go to her place a second time the following day on April 17, on reaching they were told by Kiwanuka that the guard had travelled to the village in Oyam purportedly for the burial of his father this yielded suspicions towards the guard.
The detectives decided to do a search on Obongi’s home, surprisingly the Police recovered Agaba’s ATM card inside the guardroom at the gate.

This laid concrete to Police’s believe that the guard is primary suspect and as such he could be linked to the disappearance of Agaba. A Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force (JATT) team, led by Vincent Okurut, the southeastern regional criminal investigations officer, later tracked Obongi and arrested him from his home village of Adyeda in Loro subcounty, Oyam district.
After a through steak out the guard was found in possession of items of the deceased including her cellphone, a sub-woofer and a DVD player, according to the Police. The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said Obongi, who is not attached to any security company, on arrest allegedly confessed to the murder.
At about midday yesterday, under tight guard by operatives from JATT, Obongi took the security team inside the gate and pointed to the covered septic tank, saying this is where Agaba’s body was dumped. The body was discovered in the tank naked and taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem as investigations into the murder continue.
According to New vision reporter Eddie Ssejjoba the motive of the murder was still unclear. It is also not clear whether it involved Obongi alone or there were other people. Owoyesigyire said on interrogation, Obongi is said to have told Police detectives that he strangled the doctor inside her apartment and later dragged the body and dumped it in a septic tank. But there was no blood stains inside the house.
Obongi allegedly claimed that he had a misunderstanding with the doctor who had threatened to report him to his boss, the landlord. However, Haji Kiwanuka said the doctor was ‘so humble and reserved’ and he doubted that she could have had any misunderstanding with the guard.
“The Police should interrogate him thoroughly to reveal the truth,” Kiwanuka stressed.
Agaba had been Kiwanuka’s tenant for one-and-a-half years. Kiwanuka said he last talked to her last year when she complained about power. “She was my tenant, but I never used to interact with her,” he said, adding that he was shocked when her relative went to his home and reported that she was missing.
