“It is true that the deceased was removed from the Police pick-up and instantly shot dead by our officer (Police). He was shot twice,” Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, said yesterday.

Enanga, on behalf of Police, apologised to the family for the murder. When asked if they would compensate them (Ssebulime’s family), he said the Police’s legal team would take responsibility accordingly.
Enanga said a joint team of investigators from the KMP-East region and Criminal Investigations Directorate homicide department had established what had happened at Nagojje. He said the shooting of Ssebulime was
“A straightforward case of murder, conspiracy and professional misconduct.”

“We regret that our initial media release was not totally accurate in connection to what transpired when Ssebulime was gunned down,” Enanga said.

He applauded residents of Nagojje and the media for bringing out the facts about what really happened, explaining that without their concern, this would have been one case where the narrative from our first responders could have defeated justice.
