Fowler to share his soccer knowledge

England and Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler was known for his silky skills and goal scoring prowess on the pitch, but he displayed his other hidden talent when he stepped in Uganda yesterday.

Prompted by dancers of the Kuza Troupe to a dance, after stepping out of the Entebbe Airport VIP lounge, Fowler wriggled his waist to the beats of Kiganda drums to the excitement of onlookers with one female journalist commenting that the man had a fl exible waist.

That was moments after Barclays Bank head of marketing and corporate relations Harriet Kasirye ushered him into the VIP press lounge where he interacted with journalists for ten minutes.

In his brief interaction with the press, Fowler who was immediately impressed with the warm Ugandan weather talked about how as a ‘ritual’ he used to put on two pairs of socks before matches to get more comfort with the ball. “I’m only here for a short time but hopefully there is much to do,” Fowler said.

He said one of his proudest moments in his career was when he joined Liverpool and was full of praise for African players who he said bring a different dimension in the dressing room and on the pitch. He said he is looking forward to venturing into managing teams because he has his Pro Licence and is just waiting for the opportune time.

Fowler is in the country for a Super fan United campaign three-day visit courtesy of Barclays Bank of Uganda. On Saturday he will interact with fans at the Super fans Club Dome Lugogo before watching a premier league match with them in the evening.

As part of his visit, Fowler, will share his football career experience, interact with Barclays’ customers and conduct a football clinic with young underprivileged footballers of the Brian Umony academy at KCCA stadium on Sunday before he leaves.
