The Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has provided clarification regarding Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda’s recent visit to State House.

He stated that the visit was official and had been planned by the Buganda Kingdom.

Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda led a delegation from the Buganda Kingdom to meet with President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.

Mayiga explained that the purpose of the visit was to inform the President about her upcoming initiative under the Nnabagereka Development Foundation (NDF).

The initiative aims to guide the younger generation in promoting their culture through development, with a focus on “obuntu bulamu” (a philosophy centered on humanity and community).

It is set to be launched on October 10 in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which has funded various programs in Uganda.

Mayiga emphasized that the initiative will eventually extend to other regions across the country.

He also highlighted the collaborative relationship between Buganda and the United Nations, which often involves government participation to access funding and resources for developmental projects.

The Nnabagereka Development Foundation (NDF), founded in 2000, has been actively involved in improving the lives of children, women, and youth in Uganda.

One of its most recognized initiatives is the annual children’s camp (Ekisakaate), aimed at promoting cultural awareness among the younger generation.

Mayiga further noted that the restoration of the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, involved collaboration with the international organization and required government participation for funding and support.
