Army: President Museveni makes new military placements

President Yoweri Museveni has made new placements and transferred 15 senior army officers to various leadership positions. The army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire, said the changes were executed by the President in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

Maj. Gen. Fred Ociti Tolit, has been appointed defence advisor at the Uganda High Commission in South Africa, having served in the same position at Uganda’s mission in Burundi. Maj. Gen. Nakibus Lakara is the new Deputy Force Commander Operations at African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM). His past duty station was at the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre (URDCC).

The President has appointed Brig. George Etyang to the National Counter Terrorism Centre. He was transferred from South Africa. The new defence attaché at the Uganda Embassy in South Sudan is Brig. Dominic Twesigomwe. He was previously at the Chieftaincy of Integrated Resource Management Information System (CIRMIS).

The new defence attache to the Uganda Embassy in Burundi is Brig. Emmanuel Kanyesigye. He was previously at the army’s 4th Division headquarters in Gulu. Brig. Christopher Kiyingi Bossa is the new Commandant Bihanga Training Centre, having previous served at the College of Logistics.

Brig. Paul Lokech joins URDCC from AMISOM, while Brig. James Nambale is new defence attache at the Uganda Embassy in Russia. He was previously Camp Commandant. Brig. Baguma Mugume joins CIRMIS. He was previously under training at the National Defence College in India.

The new military advisor at Uganda’s Permanent Mission to the UN-New York is Brig Metland Bitumbika. He was chief of pensions and gratuity in the army. Col. Bob Ojiki from Uganda Senior Command and Staff College, Kimaka, has been appointed Commandant Junior Staff College.

The new Commander 4th Division headquarters (Gulu) is Col Bonny Bamwiseki. He previously served at the First Division headquarters. Col. Ssenkumba Ssebugwawo from Land Forces headquarters, is the new director personnel.

The new Camp Commandant is Col. Michael Kibuye. He was transferred from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence headquarters. Maj. David Watasa is the new chief instructor at Junior Command and Staff College. He was previously with the Military Police.
